Astronomy Solar Planets, Jacobs & Co.
The Astronomia is the epitome of 21st century Haute Horlogerie and is recognized worldwide as a symbol of Jacob & Co's watchmaking expertise. A world first in both its unprecedentedly daring concept and fully mechanical construction, the Astronomia transcends impressive horological achievements and is considered an outstanding multidisciplinary engineering achievement. The Astronomia Solar has been redesigned to be the most compact of our unrivaled Astronomia movement range.
Despite its compact design, Astronomia Solar Planets displays our solar system's precious planets as cabochon-cut gemstone hemispheres resting on a rotating aventurine base. Its three main arms feature self-leveling time display with differential drive, hand-painted blue magnesium globe for spectacular display of the Earth, one-minute flying tourbillon regulator and Jacob-Cut®, 288 facets, 1.5 carat center Citrine, representing our sun. Astronomia Solar Planets is a beautifully artistic, highly detailed and fully mechanical recreation of our solar system, admired like never before.
Astronomia Solar Planets' exclusive JCAM19 caliber stands out in the refined collection of Astronomia calibers as the most compact recreation of the original movement, allowing for smaller case sizes and new-found proportions. Comprising 447 components, Astronomia Solar Planets are all finished to the highest haute horlogerie standards and feature two rotating platforms. One includes the three main arms of the movement, and the other has the aventurine Skylayer as a spectacular backdrop.
The three arms of the Astronomia Solar Planets host the one-minute flying tourbillon, blue magnesium sphere and differential horizontal time display that act as the watch's timing mechanism. This three-arm assembly completes a rotation around the center of the watch in 10 minutes, while holding a Jacob-Cut® citrine at its very center. Another standout feature of the Astronomia Solar Planets is how it simultaneously drives the aventurine Skylayer and its 7 cabochon-cut planets in a counterclockwise direction, adding further dynamism and complexity to this unique celestial watchmaking craft.
